Drug World is a family owned independent drug store and general store that serves Philipstown 363 days a year. Their pharmacists offer expert advice to help you feel your best with a wide range of vitamins and supplements, first aid supplies, over-the-counter medications, and prescription drugs for whatever ails you. Seniors can pick up reading glasses, walkers, and other items to provide ease and comfort for their specific needs.

Drug World offers a broad range of cosmetics, skin and hair care items, and beauty supplies. Don’t see what you need? They are happy to order special items if a customer cannot find what they are looking for.

And while parents are shopping for greeting cards, giftwrap, ordering party balloons, or waiting in line at the pharmacy, kids can find toys, art supplies, holiday decorations and costumes, games, and sporting equipment in the various aisles around the store. You may also go home with a spare pair of reasonably priced seasonal items, like flip flops, water shoes, goggles, hats or gloves, which come in handy when you need a quick replacement.

Each year, Drug World partners with Haldane and Garrison Public Schools to offer the area’s families with pre-packed classroom school supplies, making going back to school painless and easy. And if you find yourself in need of office supplies and want to keep it local, Drugworld also always carries a wide range of supplies for school projects, home office needs, and stationary goods.

When the pandemic hit New York in 2020, Heidi Snyder, co-owner of Drug World, started preparing to ensure that Philipstown would be on the list to receive vaccinations as soon as they were available. She researched. She attended webinars, and she gathered information in anticipation of vaccinations being approved for worldwide distribution. It was a fight to make them accessible to Philipstown’s residents while doses were limited and being distributed to more populated areas. She pushed ahead and did not take no for an answer. Working with local, state, and federal officials who could help, and with the assistance of her son and business partner, Mark Snyder, they figured out how to build a clinic, worked with local organizations, and built a team of volunteers to organize, schedule, and administer vaccinations. They got the job done. By mid-June of 2021, over 80% of Philipstown’s residents, over age 12, have been vaccinated. Heidi and the Drug World team continue to work with state and federal government to ensure Drug World stays abreast of vaccination management and demands as pandemic vaccination necessities evolve.

Drug World is the 2021 Foundation Stone Business Award Winner, given to businesses or organizations, established for 25 years or longer, that have served the community of Philipstown exceptionally well. Our community’s safety, health, and wellbeing was restored, thanks to Drug World’s commitment and Heidi and Mark’s above and beyond efforts to ensure we had access to vaccinations. Congratulations to Heidi and Mark Snyder on a job well done and an award well deserved!
