ABOUT

Established in 1910, the Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce is an unaffiliated, non-partisan, non-profit, volunteer-run organization that is funded primarily by membership.

MISSION

The Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce works to improve the quality of life in Philipstown, New York. We believe that the function of commerce is to support a healthy community: it should provide useful, high-quality, fairly priced products and services that satisfy diverse demands. While we work to make our own businesses innovative and distinctive, we realize that they are linked to the rest of the community and we aim to develop a supportive network for each other.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce pursues its goals through promotion, advocacy, civic engagement, and stewardship. We aim for sustainable economic growth that attracts resources to our region without undermining its social or environmental fabric. We provide services and tools to visitors through our tourism publications and management of the Cold Spring Visitors’ Center. We engage in civic discourse, participate in community meetings, and volunteer to perform services that shape the future of our community. We advocate for fair and responsible governance that improves infrastructure and promotes the health and happiness of all. We value traditions, cultural heritage, the arts, education, and innovation.

We offer our products and services equally to everyone, showing respect and kindness to all we do business with, whether they are neighbors or visitors from near or far. In visitors we recognize our own need to feel welcomed in unfamiliar places, and so we extend our hospitality to ensure that visitors leave with happy memories of Philipstown.

POLICIES

Sponsorships: As a small non-profit organization, the Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce has a very small marketing budget, which it devotes mostly to promoting its own initiatives. The Chamber does not sponsor campaigns, events or initiatives organized by for-profit enterprises. Occasionally, the Chamber may sponsor community-focused initiatives undertaken by local non-profit organizations that benefit our residents.

Visitors Center: Space is very limited at our Visitors Center. The Chamber does not display any advertisements, posters or flyers on the windows of the Visitors Center, other than our Visitors Map and any relevant Chamber-produced materials. Local non-profit organizations are welcome to drop off postcards/small flyers for upcoming events for our volunteers to have on hand.
