Some people turn lemons into lemonade. Ed Currelley sprang into action during the pandemic shutdown, using his culinary skills to distribute homemade frozen soup among disadvantaged community members. The response was so great that, a few months and lots of recipe-testing later, he launched his healthy prepared foods business.

Their homestyle soups and sauces are made without sodium, sugar, preservatives or additives of any kind, and using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. With offerings like Lentil with Carrot, Black Bean Puree with Mushroom, Golden Split Pea with Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Hudson Valley Frozen Fresh offers comfort for every palate.

Their soups are available locally at the Cold Spring Cheese Shop and Foodtown. They are growing quickly and can now also be found at Keyfood in Beacon and at Adams Market stores in Wappinger Falls and Poughkeepsie.

Edward Currelley of Hudson Valley Frozen Fresh is the 2021 recipient of the Kitchen Table Business Award, given to innovative start-ups or home based business organizations that started with meetings around a kitchen table to do great things in the world.
