Cold Spring Ceramics was founded in 2017 by artist Kent Henricksen when he made some utilitarian bowls and mugs for his family. Soon after, his iconic blue and white stoneware was available at the Cold Spring Apothecary, Cold Spring General Store, and the Cheese Shop.

At around that time, Kent began offering ceramics classes out of the studio as part of his role on the Haldane School Foundation Board—kids made bird nests, face mugs and chess sets. It was a blast!

In 2025, Kent and his partner opened the Cold Spring Ceramics store and community workshop at 165 Main Street, and it has become a ceramics hub for local families and tourists alike. In addition to classes, anyone can "walk-in" and make a work in clay, glaze one of the Cold Spring Ceramics pieces, work on the wheel, or design a custom chess set. All levels are welcome. Curated private events and birthday parties are reasonably priced and also a hit.
