Effective Promotion: Our newly issued business listing and map is already in the hands of over 4000 local, national and international visitors. Last year the Chamber placed a Cold Spring destination ad in Bespoke Concierge magazine that appeared in 40,000 hotel rooms in NYC and the Hudson Valley. And this summer, the Chamber’s Trolley Committee began working on branding, signage, and printed schedules and maps to increase ridership and user-ability of the Cold Spring Trolley. Our Main Street Committee has produced and promoted Cold Spring’s First Fridays, which are family friendly, community evening out on the first Friday of every month for the community to be entertained with art exhibits, shopping, socialize, and dinner out on Main Street.
Problem Solving: Three new Chamber Committees, the Main Street Committee, the Trolley Committee, and the Advocacy Committee are now focusing exclusively on enlivening our central Village retail corridor and on more effectively looping in our wide spread membership.
Advocacy: We are committed to constructive relations with the Village, Town, and County governments and actively working to build a stronger Philipstown community together.
Visitor Amenities and Image Making: The public restrooms have been operating and the Visitor Information Booth has been staffed on weekends with volunteers to make visitors feel welcome and positive about us.
Member Education and Information: In the past year our bi-monthly business breakfasts have included presentations on the sweeping Federal tax changes, an insider’ look at our diverse and vitally important area non-profits and a chance to meet elected officials. We’ve also partnered with the Cold Spring Village Tree Advisory Board to sponsor workshops to encourage gardening and beautification of the business district on Main Street. As the plastic bag ban goes into effect in 2020, the Chamber will be providing information on alternative packaging and working with local business owners to promote a “BYOBag” campaign.
Networking: Bi-monthly, “Good Company & FAQS”, after work social gatherings permit an easy exchange of ideas and a way to make new connections.
Community Events Calendar: Member businesses and organizations can use our calendar as a resource to coordinate dates for community events and may share their events on the Chamber community calendar.
